A bit about me.
Hello there! As you may have guessed, my name is Charlie Marsh, and I’m a Scottish-born photographer based in the central belt of Scotland.
Today I continue to exercise an over 9-year-long passion in photography, combined with an even longer passion of aviation, which I find to be the perfect recipe. I strive to emphasise the factors that provide the most wonder from these majestic machines, from the agility and precise craft of a Spitfire or Kittyhawk, to the speed and menace of that of an F-18 Hornet or Eurofighter Typhoon.
My interest in photography started within the genre of Landscape, being taught by John Gravett in the stunning Lake District in Cumbria, UK. Everything I learned during this time has aided to shape and direct my photography style. After recording multiple film clips at airshows and aircraft events, the next logical step seemed to be to photograph them, as well as how to capture the details that made the subject unique. I would excitedly learn through experiences such as the farewell flight of the Tornado over Leuchars Air Station, St Andrews, and the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, with the mass display of DC-3 type aircraft at Duxford, Cambridge.
During my time in Canada, I have enjoyed some fantastic displays, such as the Aero-Gatineau airshow in 2023, featuring displays from some rare examples of iconic aviation, the MiG-17, Goodyear Corsair and P-40 Kittyhawk to name a few. I was also lucky enough to be present in Ottawa when the Royal Canadian Air Force organised a mass flypast over Parliament to celebrate their centenary, including some rare beauties like the Avro Lancaster and North American B-25 Mitchell.
